Blue River Building AI Assistant is an online help tool designed to support homeowners, contractors, and design professionals with general questions about building, planning, and permitting in the Town of Blue River. It provides clear, code-aware guidance based on the Town’s adopted regulations and policies, helping users understand common requirements, navigate the permit process, and prepare for next steps before contacting staff.

The assistant can also review uploaded photos for informational completeness—such as identifying common issues, clarifying what inspectors typically look for, or helping users prepare for an upcoming inspection. These photo reviews are advisory only and do not replace required inspections or approvals. Final determinations are always made by the Town of Blue River Building Department through the official permitting and inspection process.

Type A Permits:

• New Construction
• Additions
• Garages
• Variance
• Plat Amendments
• Subdivisions

Type A Permits require approval from the Planning & Zoning Commission.  The Planning & Zoning Commission meets once a month on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. Click on the image to be redirected to the Type A Permit page.

Type B Permits Include:

• Shed/Small Structures
• Excavation (Septic, Sewer, Utility, General)
• Landscaping (Involving features, retaining walls, fire pits)
• Berms
• Solar
• Fences
• Chicken Enclosures
• Decks

Type B Permits do not require Planning & Zoning Commission Approval and may be approved by the Building Official.  A site plan is required.  Click on the image to be redirected to the individual permits.

Type C Permits Include:

• Staining/Siding
• Roofs
• Windows
• Interior Remodel
• Forest Management (Tree Cutting)
• Hot Tubs
• Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical Permits
